A new era in breathable bed pads
TouchDRY® Breathable Absorbent Pads are white, soft flat sheets with an absorbent layer and a waterproof breathable underside that stops fluid getting through to equipment below and wicks away moisture to protect the patient’s skin. Designed to be breathable and to manage climate control and preserve skin integrity.
Three layers of protection
Soft, non-woven air-permeable top layer is gentle on healthy skin as well as skin of the very young to the very old plus vulnerable and fragile skin during periods of illness
- The super absorbent inner layer allows body fluids to be taken away from the skin. The fluids are locked in the inner layer to keep skin dry
- The breathable, waterproof backing assists the containment of fluid for safe disposal
Preserving the microclimate, the TouchDRY® is drier faster than traditional bed pads.
20 times more breathable than Blueys and Pinkies
High level fluid handling capacity
Absorbs 3.2 litres per m2 (AWTA 62) which assists the containment and safe disposal through control of fluids
Reduce cleaning costs
By protecting your air assisted patient transfer mats, theatre tables and equipment
How does TouchDRY® benefit your clients
Breathable bed pad - MVTR is a measure of breathability. Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR) measures the passage of water vapour through a substance. The higher the MVTR rate the more breathable the product. TouchDRY® is 425.5g / m² / 24h / 23oC (See graph below) compared to 32.6 and 19.8 with other traditional bed pads. (Test method ASTM E96-2012).
Keeps patient dry. Moisture management and preserving the microclimate of skin and reducing or eliminating the risk of moisture related skin damage is paramount in maintaining skin integrity (see attached independent report and testing)
Soft on skin. Designed to be flat and soft and to be used in direct contact with skin. Also designed to also absorb leakage from dressings used in the treatment of a variety of wounds including surgical, leg ulcers, lymphedema, pressure injuries and other skin breakdown.
Reduced odours due to highly absorbent polymers encapsulated in the core
No added pressure - A independent pressure study proved that there was no additional pressure load on a patients skin when using TouchDRY. Test were conducted at 25 kg, 50kg and 100 kg. Contact Haines® for a full copy of the report.
How does it benefit your facility and staff
Economic impact – by alleviating strikethrough, effectively reducing linen changes and protects equipment.
Better fluid handling capacity of TouchDRY® - 3200ml / m² / 24h (AWTA 62) as compared to the average market leading standard poly backed protective sheets which are 708ml / m² / 24h (“Review & Report on Haines TouchDRY Absorbent Pads – Moisture Management Focus”, Sandy Dean, MWoundcare, RN FAWMA MACN)
Reduce costs - typically less than the cost of a machine wash
Always available for staff - no waiting for bedpads to come back from the laundry
Compatible with all pressure redistribution surfaces - assisting underlying micro-climate therapies
Maintains structural integrity when saturated
